Tick Control Add-On

Mosquito Time's tick control add-on extends your mosquito barrier spray to also target ticks, providing comprehensive protection against both of Michigan's most troublesome outdoor pests. For just $35 added to any barrier spray visit, our technicians apply targeted tick treatments to the areas where ticks live and wait for hosts.

Ticks are a growing concern in Washtenaw County. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has documented increasing populations of deer ticks (black-legged ticks) across southern Michigan, including the Ann Arbor area. These ticks can carry Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and babesiosis — serious illnesses that can have long-term health consequences if not caught early.

Unlike mosquitoes, which fly to find you, ticks use a behavior called "questing" — they climb to the tips of tall grass and low shrubs and wait with outstretched legs to grab onto passing hosts. This is why tick treatments focus on different areas than mosquito treatments.

Our tick control add-on targets the transition zones between your maintained lawn and natural areas: the edges of wooded spaces, stone walls, garden borders, the areas under decks and play equipment, and any tall grass or ground cover. These are the zones where ticks are most likely to encounter your family and pets.

We use EPA-registered products specifically labeled for tick control that are applied as a targeted spray to ground-level vegetation and leaf litter. The treatment kills ticks on contact and provides a residual barrier that continues working between visits.

The tick add-on is most effective when combined with our seasonal plan. Tick season in Michigan runs from April through November — even longer than mosquito season — and consistent treatment throughout the season keeps populations suppressed.

In addition to professional treatment, we recommend keeping your lawn mowed short (ticks avoid open, sunny areas), creating a 3-foot gravel or wood chip barrier between your lawn and wooded areas, removing leaf litter from around your home, and checking family members and pets for ticks after spending time outdoors.

The $35 per visit add-on is available with any barrier spray service — both one-time treatments and seasonal plans. For seasonal plan customers, this adds $245 to the total season cost (7 visits × $35) for comprehensive mosquito and tick protection from April through October.
